Friday morning I talked with a new R&B singer/songwriter Jade Alston. This Philadelphia’s been around the scene for some time now, she is best known for her days as an on air VJ on Urban X-pressions. Jade Alston has grew up in the industry and now she’s ready to shine. On Dec 28th 2011 she premiered her first EP entitled “Single on a Saturday Night” it features 10 songs. With songs like “Missing You Lately”, and “Love of My Life” Jade is speaking to hearts of all you ladies listening. Check out the interview, and more below:
Dsheray: Is this EP for women?
Jade: “Yep! It’s for the ladies or whoever can relate. Maybe the fellas might want to listen to learn a few things about a single woman. But, I did write it from a woman’s perspective, because I’m a woman, and it speaks to being newly single.”
Dsheray: You write your own music, so how long have you been doing that, and have you written for anybody else?
Jade: “Yes! Actually I started off as an artist, but about two years ago I had an opportunity to write with a really, really successful writing camp. There’s this guy name Claude Kelly, and he wrote so many huge #1 hit records like “Party in the USA”, and he wrote for Britney Spears; he just wrote so many records. There were a couple of other people who produced hit records, and I just got an opportunity to work with them; as a writer kind of to hone my skills. It was just a random opportunity, and so far the past two years I’ve been doing that writing for other artist. I just found out I think it was two days after my EP released that I have a song now based in Japan with one of their biggest artist. Her name is Crystal Kay, and the song is called “Be with you”, and I’m really excited.”
